Application Deadlines
Admission deadlines for the program are as follows:

*International students should plan to have documents in at least one month earlier than the deadline, because it can take a prolonged period of time for transcript evaluations and language proficiency scores to be processed and results sent to Loyola. Note that all application requirements must be submitted by the above deadline for the given term. Click the link below to start your application. When applying, choose Montessori Education and the area of concentration that is applicable to your MACTE credential. You will have the option to select your interest in Credit for Prior Learning and upload your MACTE credential.
International Students
International applicants are eligible to complete this program fully online outside of the United States. Please note: a Form I-20 cannot be issued for this program. International students must submit additional application materials, including transcript evaluations and English Language Proficiency test scores where applicable. All admission documents must be received by May 1 in order to begin the fully-online program in Summer.

Admission Requirements

- MACTE-accredited I/T, EC, EL I-II, or Admin training credential
- One (1) professional/academic letter of recommendation that highlights your qualifications and suitability for the program. Only professional or academic references will be considered: personal references are not acceptable.
- Resume or curriculum vitae including professional work or volunteer experience in the field of Montessori education
- Non-refundable $60 application fee (Note: waived for applicants who attend an information session prior to submitting their application fee).
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. All foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved international academic record evaluation service. Visit the International Academic Records page for a list of approved services.
- Virtual interview with the Program Director (may be waived upon determination by the Director).
- Official English language examination scores are required for applicants who have
not earned (or will not be earning) a bachelor's or higher degree from a college or
university where English is the sole language of instruction.
Because the Montessori program is writing-intensive, applicants who are required to submit English language examination scores must demonstrate their graduate-level reading comprehension and writing abilities by earning the following scores for whichever exam they submit.

We strongly recommend that all applicants have their schools send us official e-transcripts if possible. If your school uses an automated transcript request service, select “Loyola University Maryland” as the receiving institution, and be sure to select “Graduate” or “Graduate Admission” as the receiving office. If your school does not use an automated transcript request service but will still send an official transcript on your behalf via email, have your school send your transcript to graduate@loyola.edu.
If your school is unable to provide electronic transcripts of any kind, your transcripts must be sent to us by mail in envelopes sealed by the school. Our mailing address can be found on the Graduate Admission webpage.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that a completed application and all supplemental materials are received by the application final deadlines. Supplemental materials, once received, become the property of Loyola University Maryland and cannot be returned.
Additional Application Information
Applicants seeking admission to the M.Ed. program in Montessori Education must have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an overall GPA of 3.00 or above for unconditional acceptance.
Individuals with GPA's between 2.75 and 3.00 may be considered for provisional admission status. Additional writing samples or test results may be requested before a final decision is made.
Tuition and Financial Aid
See the tuition webpage* for details related to tuition and cost of attendance. After a student receives credit for prior learning (15 credits), the remainder for the degree program is 18 credits at the standard tuition rate. Tuition is due within 10 days of registration for each term the student is enrolled.
A non-refundable flat fee of $165/credit is for the 15 prior learning credits ($2,475) is required following admission to the program for the evaluation of the MACTE credential. This fee must be paid in full prior to starting the program.

The Graduate Financial Aid office administers several types of financial assistance for graduate students. Loan assistance is available through the federal government and private lenders. Assistantships are available through several academic and administrative departments. Additionally, individual departments offer a limited number of fellowships, scholarships and grants to assist students with their education expenses.
