B.A./B.S./MAT- 5th Year Master's Degree Program

Undergraduate students from other disciplines who wish to obtain their teacher licensure may participate in a five-year program that results in a bachelor's degree within their area of major and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree.

Admissions

Loyola B.A./B.S./MAT - 5th year students are applicants who are applying to the MAT program in order to take graduate courses during their senior year of undergraduate work.  

If you are applying as a B.A./B.S./MAT-5th year student, you must select the start term immediately following your anticipated undergraduate graduation date on your application (e.g., if you are graduating undergrad in the Spring, you must select the Summer start term for the MAT program).

Program of Study

Students take three graduate-level courses in their senior year, which count toward both the bachelor's and master's degrees. Graduate courses taken during the senior year are included in the undergraduate tuition and take the place of undergraduate electives. You will take the MAT courses on a full-time basis beginning the semester following graduation.

Scholarship Opportunities

Fast-Track MAT Admission for Loyola Seniors

Loyola seniors are not eligible B.A./B.S./MAT- 5th year master's degree program. However, seniors do have the option to apply to the Full-Time, One-Year or Part-Time Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at Loyola through our Fast-Track admission. To apply, please visit our Fast-Track page
