At Loyola, we do more than prepare teachers. We shape accomplished educators. Our primary aim is to develop highly effective and ethical educational leaders and change agents who share our convictions about, as well as our commitment to, bringing about social justice by improving education for all children, especially those who suffer most from an inadequate system.
Mission
The mission of the School of Education is to provide inspirational teaching, conduct and disseminate innovative scholarship, and actualize social justice practices with school and community partners. Faculty and staff employ the principles inherent in cura personalis, caring for the whole person, in the development of transformational educators who will learn, lead, and serve in the diverse and changing communities of Baltimore, the state, the nation, and the world.
Vision
The School of Education will be the leader in preparing educators and researchers to effectively partner with urban schools and community-based organizations as we work together to improve the quality of life for children, families, and the community at large.

Committed to Social Justice
At Loyola’s School of Education, our Jesuit mission calls us to advance social justice locally, regionally, and globally. Across our undergraduate and graduate programs, students learn to identify systemic inequities, engage in critical self-reflection, and build skills to enact change in their schools and communities. We prepare educators, leaders, and counselors to improve education for all learners, especially those most impacted by an inadequate system.

Personalized Guidance and Development
Guided by cura personalis, care for the whole person, Loyola’s School of Education offers personalized guidance, multiple pathways, and professional opportunities that help students pursue their distinct calling. Classes are intentionally kept small to support individualized mentorship, with clinical and internship experiences that include hands-on guidance aligned to students’ professional goals. We also partner with professional development schools across Maryland to connect learning with real-world practice.
