Curriculum Components

Classroom

The Sellinger Scholars Program has two primary components:

  1. Curricular Coursework: Sellinger Scholars students take the required Sellinger foundational courses together as a cohort which fulfill degree requirements for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA or Bachelor of Science in Finance). The required coursework offers increased rigor in the form of outside reading, discussion, and class presentations. Sellinger Scholars program foundational courses are sequenced and designed to allow for greater interaction with faculty and classmates.
  2. Sellinger Scholars Experience/Seminar: Beginning in the sophomore year, Scholars enroll in the Sellinger Scholars Experience/Seminar, a one-credit course designed to nurture the personal and professional growth of the individual, enhance the academic experience, and broaden the learning environment.  The courses offer students the opportunity to participate in professional, social, and community service activities in the Baltimore area. These one-credit courses are taken each semester unless the student is studying abroad.

Activities include:

  • Skills-based training
  • Guest lecturers
  • Site visits to area businesses
  • Community service
  • Professional development
  • Networking
