About
Lauren McDougle, director of the American Kodály Institute, is a respected Kodály educator and teacher trainer for Kodály materials and classroom folk instruments. In addition to her work designing and teaching graduate courses for music educators, she is a frequent presenter at music educators' conferences and workshops. Her presentations focus on folk song repertoire and dance, student engagement, and curriculum development. She is the current president of Maryland United Specialists in Kodály and has taught elementary general music in Maryland public schools for nearly two decades. Ms. McDougle uses Kodály-inspired teaching in both the public schools and in her role as education director for Children’s Chorus of Maryland and School of Music, founded by Betty Bertaux.
