Educational Leadership Certificate Curriculum
Loyola’s Educational Leadership program offers rigorous, challenging, and relevant coursework to broaden and deepen one’s expertise. The program's four primary strands include:
- the development and understanding of leadership styles
- a comprehensive look at organizational development, school culture, and perceptions of power
- the blending of theory and practice
- and an assessment of curriculum development and how people learn
Program candidate may complete the state certification requirements by earning 21 semester hours of graduate coursework from the following six areas: School Administration/Clinical and/or Instructional Supervision, Curriculum Design, Group Dynamics, School Law, and Practicum/Internship.

Internship
The internship is the capstone experience for students in either the M.Ed. or the Post-Master's Certificate in Educational Leadership. The purpose of the internship is twofold: to provide an opportunity for students to apply and develop their conceptual knowledge and understanding of educational leaderships under the guidance of an experienced school leader; and to provide an opportunity to assess and evaluate the performance of the intern in a real administrative and leadership context.

This program is designed to be completed in 2 years.
Program Outcomes
Loyola University Maryland's program is aligned to the code of regulations as identified by the the Maryland State Department of Education. Participants must have 27 months of satisfactory teaching performance on a professional licensure or satisfactory performance as a licensed specialist and the completion of a 3 credit special education course.
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Apply to obtain the Administrator I (assistant in administration, supervisor in instruction, or supervisor in central administration) endorsement.
- Be prepared for the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA).
- To become eligible for the Administrator II (school principal) endorsement, participants must obtain Administrator I and successfully complete the School Leaders Licensure Assessment.
