Why Hyman Science Scholars?
The Hyman Science Scholars Program is a competitive program for high achieving students planning to study computer science; physics; mathematics; statistics; or data science with a focus in CS, Math, or Stat. The primary benefits of participating in the program are:
- Opportunities: You will have additional opportunities that are not available or as easily accessible to other students, including internships, summer research, and courses.
- Financial Aid: You may receive financial aid to support you through all four years of study. Financial aid amounts are determined based on your financial need once you are accepted into the program. Acceptance into the program is not affected by financial need; financial aid is only considered after acceptance.
- Cohort: You will be part of a cohort of students who are also pursuing Hyman Science Scholars Program majors. You will take a course each year with these other students during your first three years, and have a chance to meet older program Scholars for advice.
- Mentoring: You have access to additional mentoring from the program faculty.
- Career Prep: You have access to additional career preparation, whether you decide to start your career directly after graduation or first attend graduate school. Faculty are here to help you make these decisions.
- Prestige: Participation in the Hyman Science Scholars Program is prestigious, and will help your resume stand out to employers and graduate schools.

New Name, Same Program
Loyola's CPaMS Scholars Program is now the Hyman Science Scholars Program, thanks to the philanthropic support of a generous foundation whose leader has a passion for the sciences that will inspire the next generation of Loyola students. The only change is the name! Just like CPaMS Scholars, Hyman Science Scholars are academically talented students majoring in computer science, mathematics, statistics, data science, or physics. Students benefit from a cohort model through which they gain peer support and faculty mentorship, extracurricular enrichment, internship opportunities and career guidance in STEM-related fields.Contact Us
