Introduction to Statistical Methods and Data Analysis (ST 110)

An introductory statistics course requiring no calculus. Statistical methods are motivated through real data sets. Topics include graphical summaries of data, measures of central tendency and dispersion, chi-squared tests, regression model fitting, normal distributions, and sampling.

Introduction to Psychology (PY 101)

Surveys the multifaceted aspects of both the science and practice of psychology. Biological, cognitive, and social bases of behavior and mental processes are explored, as are the key features and importance of critical thinking skills and solid psychological research. 

Faculty biography

Professor Carolyn Marinari was born and raised in East Brunswick, NJ and is a graduate of Loyola University (BA Psychology, MS Pastoral Counseling).  She's been teaching at Loyola in the Psychology Department for over 10 years after working in a high school setting.  When not teaching psychology, she's teaching dance at the dance studio she owns.  She's excited to work with first-year students and introduce them to the school and city that have become so prevalent in her life story!

Mentor biography

Luke Haus is an Associate Director in the Office of Student Engagement. Luke oversees the Evergreens and new student programs, such as Summer Orientation and Fall Welcome Weekend. Luke joined Loyola in 2020 as the Assistant Director of Student Engagement for leadership development programs, before transitioning to his new role.  Luke is passionate about helping students better understand themselves and those around them so they can grow to their fullest potential while here at Loyola. Luke is a 2017 graduate of Loyola and has since received his Master's in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University.
