Financial Accounting (AC 201)

This course focuses on introducing financial accounting which provides information for decision makers outside the entity primarily by means of general-purpose financial statements. Students acquire a basic knowledge of the language of business. Topics include the application of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles to business transactions encountered by corporations during the accounting cycle.

Data Analytics and Information Systems (IS 251)

Students examine the strategic role of information systems in organizations and the integration of data analytics into business activities enabling quality, timeliness, and competitive advantage. They are immersed in the collection, exploration, visualization and application of data to make informed business decisions. Students apply database, spreadsheet, and visualization skills to solve real world business challenges. Students develop a real-world data visualization project relatable to a business application of real world data.

Faculty Biography

Professor Pethigamage Lami Perera has been teaching and researching Information Systems for over two decades, shaping minds across Australia, Asia, and the U.S. He values curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful discussions in the classroom. Outside of academia, he enjoys exploring innovative technology trends and mentoring the next generation of STEM leaders.He believes that true purpose in life is found in small yet meaningful moments.

Mentor Biography

Jay Venit is the Assistant Director of Operations and Aquatics at the FAC. He went to Loyola and received an Undergraduate Degree in Finance, before attending the University of Florida to get his Masters in Sports Management with a Specialization in High Performance Coaching. Outside of his role at the FAC, Jay is also one of the Assistant Coaches for the Varsity Swim Team.
