Kolvenbach Programs
Kolvenbach Grant Deadline: March 10th, 2025
Inspired by an October 2000 address by Rev. Peter Hans Kolvenbach, S.J., Loyola University
Maryland offers the Kolvenbach Research Grant Program to foster and encourage socially
engaged research. The program seeks to honor Loyola's research strengths and galvanize
the institution's commitment to faith and justice work that serves the needs of the
underserved in the Baltimore community and beyond. Work may be conducted during the
academic year or summer.
Applications are reviewed by the Engaged Scholarship Committee. The committee encourages
all applicants to carefully review the Kolvenbach Grant Guidelines before submitting an application. Please see Kolvenbach Research Grant Recipients for more information on projects the committee funds.
This program invites proposals from Loyola faculty, students, staff, and administrators to conduct research projects that address the needs of a the larger community alongside a community partner. Please check out our presentation from our most recent Kolvenbach Information Session (pdf).
Award size:
- Student or Employee-Directed Projects: Up to $6,000 with a maximum stipends of $3,500 (faculty mentor receives a stipend of $500)
- Faculty-Directed Project with Student Involvement: Up to $12,000 with maximum stipends of $3,500
