Course Registration Advice from Current Loyola Students

A graduate of the class of 2020, Priyanka Agadi created the video below to help new students normalize and cope with the emotions they experience during course registration, and to offer advice from current Loyola students who have gone through the process of course registration. Priyanka majored in communications with a minor in marketing and was an Evergreen Leader for the Office of Student Engagement and a Marketing Intern for Loyola Athletics.

Below you will find important information on course registration, override requests, and withdrawals for each undergraduate term offered at Loyola.

Spring 2025 Course Withdrawal

The Spring 2025 withdrawal period begins on January 21, 2025. The deadline for undergraduate students to withdraw from Spring 2025 course(s) with a grade of “W” is Monday, April 14, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. In order to withdraw, students must complete the Change of Registration form with their instructor’s signature and bring it to the Academic Advising and Support Center in Maryland Hall, Room 138 before 5:00 p.m. on April 14th.  During the final two days of the course withdrawal period, AASC may approve a course withdrawal without the signature of the course instructor. 

Student athletes will also need a signature from their athletics advisor, and International Students must consult with Sunanda Bhatia, Director of International Student Services prior to submitting the form. Students are also encouraged to consult with the Office of Financial Aid at 410-617-2576 if they have any questions or concerns about the potential impact of a course withdrawal on their financial aid or scholarship. Most aid and scholarships require students to maintain full-time status (12 credits or more).

Summer 2025 Registration

Web Registration for Summer 2025 Sessions starts at midnight on February 24, 2025. 

Students do NOT need permission to take courses through Loyola in the summer. Summer session registration closes 2 days prior to the course's start date. You may drop courses electronically up until 2 days prior to the start date of any class. After that, may contact AASC at 410-617-5050 or aasc@loyola.edu for an advising specialist to assist further. 

Check the Office of the Registrar website for complete information regarding dates/times for add and drop periods, and alternative registration methods and deadlines. Review available registration options.

Summer 2025 Course Override Requests

Students looking to register for a closed (full) summer course may submit a course override request form. Fall course requests will not be reviewed through this form. 

All course overrides are reviewed by the department chair and are only approved if there are extenuating circumstances. The override request will not be processed if there is a time conflict with your existing schedule or if there is a financial or registration hold on your account.

Course instructors do not have authority to grant overrides.

Please continue to check Student Planning for openings in your desired course.  Registration deadlines vary for Summer 2025 courses.  Please check the Office of the Registrar for specific dates & deadlines.

Fall 2025 Registration Dates

• Class of 2026: March 19, 2025
• Class of 2027: March 26, 2025
• Class of 2028: April 2, 2025

6th course registration for the Fall 2025 semester opens July 2025. 

Once the assigned registration date and time has passed, undergraduate students will be permitted to drop/add courses for Fall 2025 until 11:59 PM, Monday, September 8, 2025 through Student Planning via Loyola Self-Service.

Fall 2025 Course Override Requests

NOTE:  Sixth (6th) course registration will open in July 2025.  Exact date TBD by the Office of the Registrar.
