Loyola celebrates the life of Jane Rau, longtime employee of the University

Remembered for her smile and friendship, Jane Rau worked for more than 30 years at
Loyola University Maryland before passing away on Saturday, Sept. 21. She was 64.

As a gift analyst, Rau processed, categorized, and tracked gifts for the advancement
                        office for the University.

“Jane was a valued member of the Loyola family since October of 1988, and she will
be dearly missed,” said Terrence Sawyer, senior vice president. “Jane was a dedicated
and wonderful member of the Loyola advancement team, and an even better person and
                        friend.”

Rau’s colleagues at Loyola will miss her positive attitude, her ease at conversation,
and her concern for those around her.

“There are so many memories. They’re all being eclipsed by sadness, but what I remember
most is her giant smile,” said Tarah Wilson, associate director of advancement services,
who worked with Rau for 17 years. “She laughed easily and often and made me laugh,
too. She was always so interested in others, and I’m going to miss her laugh and giant
smile. It lit her whole face.”

Among the family members who survive Rau are her mother, Janet Morris, who worked
in the Jesuit residence at Loyola for many years, and Rau’s son, Mark, who graduated
                        from Loyola in 2003.
