Loyola students recover treasure trove of women’s writings
Professor of English, Dr. Jean Lee Cole, led her class, Reading Women, Writing Women, 1890-1920, on a treasure hunt for the writings of Baltimore women. With funding from the Center for the Humanities, the upper-level English students traced the lives and works of members of the Woman’s Literary Club of Baltimore. As students learned more about female writers from over a century ago, they also learned how women the women had different views of the suffrage movement and the Confederacy. The students created a website, and Dr. Cole will continue working on the literary club with future cohorts of students.
