Dionysia Downs, CMA Certified Medical Assistant
Dionysia is our Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and has been with Student Health Services since 2009. She began her medical career working in pediatrics at Union Memorial Hospital. After that, she worked as a CMA at a pediatric private practice office as well as Johns Hopkins Community Physicians working in a wide variety of clinical areas. She did take a short break from medicine to pursue law where she worked as a medical claims liaison for a local law firm. She loves being a CMA and has even served as an instructor for medical assistant students since 2003!

Michelle Gorra, MD Part-Time Staff Physician
Dr. Michelle Gorra is a board certified Pediatrician who joined our team in Fall 2022. She received her MD/MPH degrees from the University of Connecticut and completed her pediatric residency at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She has worked as a pediatrician and as a member of the pediatric faculty at Greenspring Pediatric Associates at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. She is excited to be a part of the Loyola Student Health services team and very passionate about college health. She lives in Baltimore County with her husband and 3 children. She loves the arts, hiking with her dog, and cheering on her kids at their various activities - from hockey to soccer and theater!

Eileen May, MS, FNP-BC Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Eileen is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and started at Student Health Services in January 2018. She is a California native and moved to Washington DC where she received both her BSN and MS degrees from Georgetown University (Go Hoyas!). Prior to coming to Loyola, she worked as a nurse practitioner at Union Memorial Hospital in Occupational Health and Goucher College in Student Health. Eileen is very passionate about promoting health and wellness with our students here. She lives in Towson with her amazing husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys restoring old furniture, decorating, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Jennifer Rourke, BSN, RN Registered Nurse
Jennifer is a nationally-certified registered nurse who joined Loyola Student Health Services in 2015. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from Russell Sage College in NY. She also holds a degree in Communications/Journalism from State University of NY at Plattsburgh. She has almost 20 years experience working in the hospital setting, most recently at nearby GBMC hospital. She lives in Towson with her husband and two beautiful daughters. Outside the office, you may run into her shopping at the local Target or walking her dog, Reggie, around her neighborhood!

Nicole Ryan Administrative Assistant
Nicole is one of our Administrative Assistants and started working at our office in March 2016. Prior to joining our team, she worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at the University of Maryland Medical Center in their orthopedic department. She is one of the first faces you see when coming to the Student Health Services office and really enjoys working with our students! Most of her free time outside the office is spent keeping her young daughter busy with crafts & projects, working out, or going to the movies.

Shirley Sample, MS, ANP-BC Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner
Shirley is a board certified adult nurse practitioner who joined Student Health Services in Fall 2022. She received her BSN from Towson University and MS from University of Maryland. As a nurse practitioner, Shirley has worked in various settings including private practice, college health and occupational health. She enjoys working in college health to promote the physical, social, and emotional health of students. Shirley enjoys traveling, exercising, kayaking, and hiking. Most of all, she loves spending time with her husband, 2 grown children and her new grandaughter!

Julie Sanz, MSN, ANP-BC Director
Julie is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and joined Student Health Services in September 2020. She received her BSN degree from The Catholic University of America and her MSN degree from Johns Hopkins University. Julie previously worked for 9 years in college health as well as in the neurosciences department at Johns Hopkins Hospital as both a staff nurse and nurse practitioner. She is dedicated to providing quality care to the students with a focus on health education and accountability for healthcare decisions. In her free time, she enjoys jigsaw puzzles, DIY home projects with her husband, and watching just about any sport! Her favorite athletes are her two children who are both soccer and LAX players.

Christie Sleeth Office Manager
Christie is our office manager and joined our team in June 2021. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2017 from Stevenson University and has over 15 years of administrative experience. Prior to coming to Loyola, Christie worked in the higher education field for 13 years and spent three years in a college health environment. Her free time outside the office is spent playing on a coed softball team, working out, watching movies, or playing with her yorkie Penny.

Saidat Sola-Rufai, MD Part-Time Staff Physician
Dr. Saidat Sola-Rufai is a board-certified Pediatrician who joined our team in January 2024.  She attended Salisbury University (Go gulls!) and graduated with a major in Biology and a double minor in Chemistry and Theater. She received her medical degree from Marshall University and completed her pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Sola-Rufai is a Maryland native and was happy to return home. She currently works as a pediatrician at Greenspring Pediatric Associates at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. She is so excited to be a part of the Loyola Student Health services team, as much of her research focuses on adolescent/young adult health. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, sleeping, traveling, binging tv, karaoke and Zumba.

Marlena Waugh, MS, ANP-BC, CWHS Associate Director

Marlena is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and has been with Student Health Services since 2011. She received her BSN from the University of Delaware and MS degree from the University of Maryland. She is also a Certified Women’s Health Specialist. Before coming to Loyola, she worked for several years in the hospital, mainly on medical-surgical & oncology units. She has particular clinical interests in health education/promotion and women's health.  She lives with her husband and 2 busy children in Baltimore. When she's not at work or on a sports field somewhere with her kids, she loves a good audiobook, a strong cappuccino, exercising, golden hour at the beach, and traveling with her crew!
