Cigna OAP HSA

Cigna OAP HSA (www.cigna.com)

The Cigna OAP HSA is a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) that allows for participation in a Health Savings Account (HSA). The plan utilizes the Cigna Open Access Plus (OAP) national network of participating in-network providers while allowing the freedom of both in and out-of-network coverage. All services excluding preventive care and some preventative maintenance medications are subject to the deductible which must be met before plan benefits will begin. For an easy to read summary of the plan's benefits and coverage click the Summary of Benefits and Coverage link located in the Resources section below.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Cigna at 1-800-244-6224 or Live Chat. Participants can also contact the PSA Benefits Hotline at 1-877-716-6618 or email Loyola@psafinancial.com.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE - Critical Information about Transparency in Coverage

This link - https://www.cigna.com/legal/compliance/machine-readable-files, leads to the machine readable files that are made available in response to the federal Transparency in Coverage Rule and includes negotiated service rates and out-of-network allowed amounts between health plans and healthcare providers. The machine-readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze data.

Loyola University Maryland is a religious institution and has a (birth control coverage) exemption as a “religious employer” and prescriptions for contraceptives are excluded on the Loyola medical plan. However, these services are available directly from Cigna. Access the benefit by providing your insurance card as you normally do to an in-network pharmacy (services and procedures will not be covered out-of-network). Cigna will in turn arrange payment directly to the pharmacy. Contact Cigna directly at 1-800-244-6224 for additional information.

Mental Health/Substance Abuse

The Plan provides inpatient, intermediate and outpatient care. Please see the OAP HSA Summary of Benefits and Coverage for more information.

Prescription Drug Plan

Participants in the plan automatically participate in the prescription drug plan. You can choose between retail and mail order options. Your prescription benefits are structured to take advantage of the savings associated with generic drugs.  With Restricted Generics, you will save the most by choosing generic drugs (when available) versus brand-name drugs. Unless you doctor writes “Dispense as Written” of DAW on your brand-name drug prescription, you will pay both the non-preferred brand copay plus the cost difference between the generic and brand-name drug.

Health care reform under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) requires plans to cover certain preventive medications and products at 100% or no cost-share ($0) to you. Therefore, select generic prescriptions are available to you at no cost even if you haven't met your deductible. Visit mycigna.com to learn more about how the plan covers preventive medications.

If you are taking maintenance prescription medication, we encourage you to review Express Scripts Pharmacy benefits. Express Scripts Pharmacy is Cigna’s home delivery pharmacy vendor.

Health Savings Account "HSA" with Bank of America

When you enroll in the OAP HSA (HDHP) medical plan, you are eligible to open a Health Savings Account (HSA).  An HSA can help you save money by allowing you to pay for health care expenses with tax-free dollars.  You can use the funds to pay for qualified health care expenses, such as medical and prescription drug expenses until you meet your deductible, coinsurance, copays, and other out-of-pocket expenses including dental and vision expenses, for you and your tax dependents – even if they are not covered under your medial plan.  To be eligible to open and contribute to an HSA, you must be enrolled in an HSA-qualified health plan and must not be covered by other health insurance that is not an HSA-qualified plan, including Medicare, or a spouse’s Health Care FSA.

Loyola has partnered with Bank of America to offer the HSA to employees. Each account is employee-owned and funded.  Loyola also contributes to your HSA - $500* if you are enrolled as an individual or $1,000* if you are enrolled with dependents.  The annual amount is deposited as a lump sum as the beginning of the benefit year into your Bank of America HSA.

*amount prorated for new hires or newly enrolled
