Biography
Mx. Sophia Bell is a Baltimore-based artist, dancer, and choreographer, as well as the Program Specialist for the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Loyola University Maryland. They earned their Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University Maryland, where they double majored in English and Spanish, minored in Communication, and were a member of the Honors Program. In 2019, Mx. Bell graduated from The University of Chicago with their Master of Arts in Humanities and a certificate in Theatre and Performance Studies. Their graduate thesis, BODYTALK: Embodiment and Empathy in Dance Performance, explored disability, body image, and gender via a devised dance piece and accompanying academic essay. A former Loyola Dance Company member and teacher, Mx. Bell has also choreographed for groups such as the Drama Learning Center, Mary Baldwin University's Shakespeare and Performance Program, Motte and Bailey Productions, and Loyola’s Theatre Program.
