Biography
Dr. Kerins received her doctoral degree from Johns Hopkins University. She received a B.S. from Marquette University in Communication Disorders and her M.S. from Loyola University in Speech-Language Pathology. For 19 years she worked as a school-based SLP providing treatment for students who had language-based learning disabilities and emotional and behavioral disorders as well as youngsters on the autism spectrum. Since coming to Loyola in 2000 she has served as graduate program director, department chair, and Associate Vice President for Research and Graduate Affairs in the Office of Academic Affairs. Dr. Kerins’ research interests include both the treatment and study of the intersection between language-based learning disabilities and literacy. This work has led to an interest in interprofessional education and collaborative practice among school-based and allied health care providers.
