Dr. Aleezay Khaliq

Aleezay Khaliq received her PhD in public sociology from George Mason University in 2024. Her research focuses on the lived experiences of young second-generation Muslim immigrants living in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. It highlights the sense of belonging, integration and community engagement of young Muslim Americans with mosques, campus organizations and faith-based organizations utilizing qualitative research methodology. It also explores the intersection of race, ethnicity and religiosity on identify construction. Before joining Loyola, she taught introductory sociology at George Mason University.
