Areas of Specialization
Generally, I am interested in two areas of psychology: (1) the intersection of psychology
and the law, and (2) sex and sexuality. Using principles from social and cognitive
psychology, I have several lines of research in these areas: juror decisions, deception
detection, interrogations, experiences of LGBTQ people in and outside of the legal
system, and sexuality.
I am currently working with graduate students on projects regarding the juvenile justice
system, juror perceptions of nonconsensual pornography, how media changes perceptions
of policies in the legal system, and friendships between lesbians and straight women.
In the past, my students have investigated the lived experiences of youth incarcerated
with adults, variables that leave some vulnerable to sex trafficking, sexual assault
victims’ satisfaction with legal professionals, and juror decisions in same-sex sexual
harassment cases. I use both quantitative and qualitative methods to answer research

Other Interests
As the former Equity and Inclusion Faculty Fellow at Academic Affairs, my work centered around equitable hiring practice, recruitment and retention of minoritized faculty, faculty development (inclusive teaching practices, leadership development), and creating a welcoming environment for faculty, students, and staff. I worked with individual faculty, department chairs, and departments on equity and inclusion projects.
