The Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Loyola trains and prepares students to become clinical psychologists.

Loyola doctoral students are trained innovators and leaders capable of meeting the ever-changing demands of mental health service providers. The program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), is nationally ranked, and adheres to the scholar-practitioner model of education which emphasizes the integration of a comprehensive knowledge base, appropriate attitudes, and clinical skills.

Students complete 131 credit hours and over 1,500 supervised field experience hours through a full-time, five-year doctoral program. During the five years students will experience unique one-of-a-kind opportunities through the Loyola Clinical Centers as well as the opportunities at one of over 100 externship locations throughout the Baltimore-Washington D.C. metro region.

Loyola Psy.D. students complete a portion of their training at the Loyola Clinical Centers, which provides state-of-the-art facilities and treatment for individuals experiencing difficulties in the areas of mental health and relationships, literacy, hearing, speech, and language.

Outcomes and Job Opportunities

Graduates of Loyola’s Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) pass the national licensing exam (EPPP) at a rate of 88% compared to 76% nationally. Graduates have gone on to be employed across the country at reputable private practices, prestigious universities, and world-renowned medical systems.

Psychologists feature high job satisfaction, consistently ranked as one of the best jobs by US News. Psychologists are also in high demand, from 2019 - 2029 the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects significant future demand for psychologists. The number of jobs in the field is expected to grow by 3%, adding over 5,700 jobs.
