Sigma Tau Delta
Rho Upsilon, Loyola University Maryland
The English department sponsors a chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society. The purpose of Sigma Tau Delta is, among other things, to foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing.
Members of Loyola’s chapter are eligible to compete for several $1,000 - $2,500 scholarships for study abroad costs in addition to generous bursaries for professional development and internship opportunities. Members are invited to contribute to the award-winning literary publication, The Rectangle, and to present at national student conferences and conventions.
Sigma Tau Delta provides a unique opportunity for students to share their work and their love for the literary imagination with other enthusiastic students and faculty.
Membership
Membership in Sigma Tau Delta is open to all Loyola University Maryland undergraduates. To be considered for membership in Sigma Tau Delta, students must have a B average in all completed English classes, rank in the highest 35 percent of their graduating class, and have completed at least (2) 300-level classes. Graduating members of Sigma Tau Delta are recognized in the commencement program and awarded honor cords to wear at graduation.
