Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business adds three new minors
Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management introduced three new minors in accounting, management consulting and supply chain
management.
“As a business school embedded in a liberal arts university, the Sellinger School
encourages students to approach their learning from an intentionally interdisciplinary
perspective, ensuring deep knowledge and expertise. This allows us to offer students
majoring in both business and the liberal arts a tangibly well-rounded undergraduate
education—now expanded with three new minors,” said Mary Ann Scully, MBA ’79, dean
of the Sellinger School. “Students across the university studying any major can add
new areas of focus and benefit from Sellinger’s renowned scholars and experts in addition
to the majors and minors already offered.”
Accounting minor
Designed to increase students’ understanding of the language of business, the accounting
minor covers financial and managerial accounting and taxation with elective course
options in intermediate and advanced accounting and auditing. Students planning to
run small businesses can take an entrepreneur track, while students planning to become
certified public accountants without an accounting major can take a CPA track.
Supply chain management minor
The supply chain management minor prepares students to manage and coordinate the efficient
and effective flow of products, services and information within and among organizations.
Students gain knowledge on improving processes and global supply chain operations
by applying technology, analytical and reflective thinking and quantitative and qualitative
tools. Students also apply diversity, equity and inclusion perspectives to examine
the impact of global trade in diverse industries.
Management consulting minor
Management consultants use a range of interdisciplinary skills to help organizations
solve problems and improve their performance. The management consulting minor covers
strategic management and managing teams and includes a management consulting practicum.
Students can take elective courses in innovation and entrepreneurship, global strategy,
leadership, communication and negotiation and conflict resolution.
In addition, the Sellinger School offers minors in business, business economics, data
science, information systems and data analytics, innovation and entrepreneurship,
international business and marketing.
