Explore Charm City

Downtown Baltimore and students enjoying local food

Dubbed “the Coolest City on the East Coast” by Travel and Leisure, Baltimore is a major metropolis with a small-town feel. The city is walkable, bikeable, easy to navigate, accessible, and affordable. It’s a place where you can be yourself—or reinvent yourself completely. And it’s home to 160,000 students attending 13 colleges, making it very much a college town.

Charm City

No matter what your interests are, you'll find something to love in one or more of Baltimore’s 200 diverse neighborhoods, each with its own personality and experience. Discover why Baltimore’s nickname is Charm City with amazing food, live music, shopping, entertainment, culture, and history in Harbor East, Federal Hill, Canton, and Fell’s Point. The Avenue in Hampden is one long strip of new, vintage, and some of the most popular dining establishments in town (and it’s just two miles from the Evergreen campus).

Off-campus arts, music, and cultural events

Students can stay on top of the weekend arts and cultural events scene with Culture Fly. Or visit the Baltimore Collegetown Network or Visit Baltimore sites to find out what’s happening around town. And don’t miss out on art, poetry, film, music, food, and cultural festivals and celebrations throughout the year.

Shopping

Pick up farm fresh produce at the Baltimore Farmer’s Market or visit the nearby mall, Towson Town Center. Furnish your place with interesting knick-knacks from the Station North Flea Market or stop by Belvedere Square for live music, shopping, and great food. And there are hundreds of independently owned boutiques, galleries, shops, and businesses in Baltimore to fall in love with and shop small.

Professional Sports

Root, root, root for the home team! Baltimore Orioles (take advantage of discounted tickets for students) and Ravens games are always a fun way to bond with your college friends and new city neighbors.
