Community Launch Week - November 2018
The Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CI&E) hosted a community launch week on the Evergreen campus from Nov. 12-16, 2018. The CI&E Launch Week featured pop-up interactive innovation exercises, discussions, speakers, activities, and other events that engaged the Loyola and Baltimore communities with the new Center.
Wendy Bolger, the Center’s founding director, said, "The Launch Week is a way to introduce the Center to the community and to spark our creativity to think about how what we do at Loyola can be part of building a more innovative culture on campus.”

The Career Discovery Forum
The Career Center hosted a networking event and panel on exploring your passions and developing skills for a diverse and ever- changing work. The panel featured notable alumni Greg DiNardo ’13, Alex Bullington ’14, and Kate McGrain ’09.
Loyola Innovation Talks
This evening of TedX-like storytelling featured Laurin Leonard of Mission: Launch and R3 Score, Charlie Taibi ’10, CEO of Year On, and Luke Cooper, CEO and founder of Fixt. Their inspiring talks were followed by a panel discussion and reception.
The Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hack-a-thon
The CI&E Hack-a-thon took place at the Collaboratory, Cyber Café, and Innovation Station spaces in the Loyola/Notre Dame Library. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members participated in a facilitated exercise in user-centered design. The focus was on co-creating alongside a community organization to develop a “hack” that addresses a social problem in Baltimore.
"How Might We?" Pillars
Members of the Loyola community had the opportunity to answer, "How Might We?" questions displayed on the Innovation Pillars in the Student Center. The input gained here will be used in upcoming Steering Committee activities.
Artesanos Don Bosco
This Peruvian social venture displayed pieces made in the Andes, with an opening reception in the Ferguson Gallery in the Loyola/Notre Dame Library. The Innovation as Metamorphosis display of student art featured a series of works using hybrid technologies including 3D printing and wood sculpture, and digital images transferred on glass plates.
Loyola's own select cohort of University Innovation Fellows provided students with information about this national network of innovators who train at Stanford's d. School.
Robotics Club Demonstration
The Robotics Club demonstrated their latest creations.
Iggy’s Launch Pad
Participants dropped in to Iggy's Launch Pad for fun, interactive activities and practiced being makers and innovators!
Paper Engineering Pop-up Class
A Paper Engineering pop-up class was taught by Suzanne Keilson, Ph.D., assistant professor of engineering.
