Milton Javier Bravo, Ph.D. Vice President for Mission and Identity
Milton Javier Bravo began as Loyola's vice president of mission and identity in July 2023. Prior to joining Loyola, Dr. Bravo serves as vice president for mission, values, and inclusion at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. He brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education, having served roles in mission integration, student life, student services, research, teaching, and enrollment management. He earned a B.A. in Theology and Philosophy from Saint Peter's University, an M.A. in Theology with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Seton Hall University, and a Ph.D., in Education, Religion, and Religious Education from Fordham University. He serves on the boards of the College Theology Society, Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart, the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States, and the Hope Border Institute.
Justin Doo
Justin Doo Liturgy Graduate Assistant

Justin is excited to be returning to Loyola's Campus Ministry office as the Graduate Assistant for Liturgy. He graduated from Loyola in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology & Psychology. During those years, he served the Loyola community as a Sacristan Intern in Campus Ministry, a member of the Asian Cultural Alliance, the Psychology Club Mentor/Mentee Program coordinator, and more. After graduating, he returned home to Massachusetts where he worked as a Clinical Research Assistant and Therapeutic Mentor in the Greater Boston Area. He returns to Loyola to pursue his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Justin is looking forward to supporting Liturgical programs at Loyola, meeting and learning from others, and engaging in conversation with any and every member of the Loyola community. In his (limited) free time, Justin enjoys podcasting, enjoying the outdoors, riding his bike, and cheering on the Boston Bruins.

Mark Dushel Assistant Director for Faith Formation
Mark is thrilled to be joining the Loyola Maryland community as Assistant Director for Faith Formation. Mark graduated from Providence College in 2014 with a B.A. in Philosophy with a Business Studies Minor. Mark earned his Master’s in Theology and Ministry from the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry in 2017. At BC, Mark first encountered Jesuit Education and Ignatian Spirituality. The connections he made at BC led him to working in Campus Ministry at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, the Jesuit High School in Philadelphia. At “the Prep” Mark oversaw the retreat program including Kairos, Liturgy, coached Track and Field, and supervised the Ignatian Service Program. In 2022 Mark entered the Society of Jesus as a novice. Although he did not feel called to take vows as a Jesuit, Mark deepened his love of the Jesuit Charism and was inspired to continue to work in Jesuit Education and Ministry. Mark enjoys cooking, sailing, bar trivia at breweries, and watching as much college basketball as possible.
Caroline Kovatch
Jennifer Holland Ecumenical and Interfaith Ministry Graduate Assistant
Jen is delighted to serve as the Ecumenical and Interfaith Graduate Assistant. A graduate of Towson University with her B.S. in Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology, Jen chose to continue her education at Loyola in the Clinical Professional Counseling Master's Program. She one day hopes to work with young adults and adults experiencing anxiety and mood disorders. Jen looks forward to meeting and connecting with students and staff from all backgrounds and creating strong relationships. She hopes to provide support to Loyola’s ever-evolving community and contribute to the creation of a safe, accepting, and welcoming environment. Some of her many hobbies include bullet journaling, horticulture, reading, watching horror movies, and cat-sitting.
Emily Kane
Emily Kane Acting Director
Emily is excited to served as the Acting Director of Campus Ministry at Loyola. Emily graduated from Loyola in 2014 with a B.A. in Psychology and Gender Studies. As a student, Emily discovered the Jesuits for the first time, which ignited her passion for Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit education. After graduation, she served as a year-long volunteer with Rostro de Cristo in Durán, Ecuador, where she worked at a care facility for people with Hansen’s disease (formerly known as leprosy), and at an after-school program for neighborhood youth. Emily also spent a year at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia as a Campus Ministry Associate, working with social justice initiatives (and dealing with “Pope-mania”). Most recently, she completed her Master’s in Social Justice through the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago, where she also served as a graduate assistant in Campus Ministry. Before becoming Acting Director of Campus Ministry, Emily served as Associate Director for Social Justice Ministry. Emily enjoys traveling to new places, practicing her Spanish, doing yoga, and quoting The Office and Parks and Rec whenever possible.
Laura McCormack
Laura McCormack Associate Director for Liturgy and Music

Associate Director: Oversees daily and weekly liturgies, major University liturgies and Evensong. Directs the Chapel Choir, leads Chapel Choir retreat, supervises Wedding Coordinator, and directs Lessons & Carols.

Laura is thrilled to return to Loyola Maryland as the Associate Director for Liturgy and Music. A lifelong liturgical and music minister, Laura has ten years of formation and work in the Jesuit educational tradition and is deeply inspired by Ignatian spirituality. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Loyola University and a Master of Divinity from the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. Most recently, Laura served as the Director of Campus Ministry at Loyola Blakefield, a Jesuit school for boys in grades 6-12 in Towson, MD. Laura has also served as a high school English teacher with Teach for America, a retreat director and liturgy graduate assistant with Boston College, and a cantor, accompanist, and sacristan for a variety of parishes. In her free time, Laura enjoys sharing meals with family and friends, listening to podcasts, visiting National Parks (her goal is to go to all of them!), and figure skating. 

Valentin Mudiay
Valentin Mudiay Program Assistant
Valentin Mudiay serves as the Program Assistant in Campus Ministry. He was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in Baltimore within the Catholic Church. His connection to the Jesuits deepened during his time at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. This Jesuit education continued through the first half of his undergraduate experience at Loyola University of Maryland. Through various leadership roles across Loyola’s campus, he grew a deep appreciation for the impact that Campus Ministry has both within and beyond Loyola. Valentin went on to complete his B.S in Information Systems at Towson University. Throughout undergrad, he enjoyed experiences centered on social justice and community engagement through Towson University’s Freedom School, Loyola’s Campus Ministry, and programs for mentoring and tutoring high school and college students. Valentin’s background is in Information Systems and Technology, with experiences as project manager on projects for nonprofit client organizations like Pathfinders for Autism, two years as an IT technician with Client Support, and four years as an intern at Legg Mason, an investment management firm that is now Franklin Templeton. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Engineering. He spends his time diving into programming to develop software solutions, with his current passion being in creating web-based applications. He enjoys connecting with people and having a positive impact on his community, so he is excited to provide support for our Campus Ministry team.
Yulianna Otero Asmar
Yulianna Otero Asmar Assistant Director for Outreach & Communications

Yulianna is excited to serve as the Assistant Director for Outreach & Communications. Originally from Dorado, Puerto Rico, Yulianna completed her BA in Women's and Gender Studies and Human Rights Studies (2021) at the University of Dayton in Ohio. As an undergraduate student, Yulianna served the university community as a Resident Assistant, Women’s Center intern, representative on the President’s Commission on the Status of Women, and more. Yulianna first discovered the Jesuit’s social justice and liberation efforts during a trip to El Salvador, which ignited her passion to intertwine her faith with her advocacy efforts. After working in the nonprofit sector in Puerto Rico for a year, Yulianna joined Loyola's Campus Ministry team as graduate assistant, while pursuing a master's in Theological Studies. Now, she looks forward to helping foster just, inclusive, and equitable spaces of faith and ministry for all students. In her free time, Yulianna enjoys crocheting, reading fantasy novels, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and pets.

Samia Sitwat
Saima Sitwat Assistant Director of Ecumenical and Interfaith Ministry

Saima is thrilled to fulfill her lifelong passion of building bridges across religions and cultures, in the role of Assistant Director for Ecumenical and Interfaith Ministry. A native of Karachi, Pakistan, Saima has recently moved to Baltimore from Pittsburgh. Saima holds an M.A. in English Linguistics from University of Karachi, Pakistan, Master of Public and International Affairs (MPIA) and Global Studies Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh. She is also a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh Class XXXV. In addition to various interfaith boards and leadership positions, Saima has served as the first and only woman president of the Muslim Association of Pittsburgh (MAP).

Most recently, Saima has worked as an independent writer and educator. She writes and facilitates conversations on race, religion and identity politics. Her memoir American Muslim: An Immigrant’s Journey, has been shortlisted for William Saroyan Prize International Prize for Writing at Stanford University Libraries and received an Honorable Mention at the San Francisco Book Festival.

In her free time, Saima enjoys reading, watching period drama and exploring the world of American teen-hood with her two daughters Sabina (17) and Alina (13).
