Undergraduate Programs in Theology
The study of theology prepares one not only for a profession but also for a life well-lived. Interested in being formed as “men and women for others” in the Jesuit tradition? Curious about how people make moral decisions or become good people, or about how ethics applies to fields like medicine or psychology? Hoping to gain stronger skills in writing clearly and persuasively? Want room to explore the big questions of meaning, purpose, faith, and hope alongside your other studies? Then theology is for you.
Many students combine a theology major or minor with another field of study. Common pairings include psychology, biology, Global Studies, classics, or philosophy. A major in theology is also easily paired with a Peace & Justice Studies minor, or a Catholic Studies minor. Students may also craft their own “interdisciplinary” major by combining theology with another discipline.
Loyola also offers an accelerated MTS (a “4+1”) program. Undergrad majors can earn a BA and a master’s in Theology in only five years.
