Things just kept falling in place with experiences and people that I’ve met. Everything just kept aligning.

Jeromie Miller, M.S. ’28, knew that his grandmother had received a master’s degree in clinical psychology, but he never thought to ask from where. His family has connections to the Baltimore area going back decades and his grandmother worked in Baltimore City Public Schools.

It wasn’t until after he applied and shared the news that he had been accepted to the M.S. in Clinical Professional Counseling program at Loyola University Maryland that he discovered he was continuing a family legacy. But it wasn’t a surprise.

“Loyola just stood out. They really make me feel included,” said Miller, who earned his undergraduate degree from Stevenson University. “They extend opportunities to be better and do better and chase the things you want.”

Growing up, Miller found his family prioritized community through church events and giving back. When he realized he could combine his passions for football and helping others into a counseling career, he decided to pursue sports psychology and began exploring master’s programs. Loyola’s clinical master’s program seemed like the obvious choice, even before he knew his grandmother graduated with her master’s in 1983.

“When she told me, it felt fortuitous,” he said, “like it was just meant for me to go here.”
