Campus Ministry Intern Positions
Campus Ministry will be hiring up to 20 undergraduate intern positions in the 2024-2025 academic year. All positions will be paid $15 and are not eligible as work-study positions. Applications for positions are accepted each spring semester.

In addition, each position has additional unique qualifications, responsibilities and expectations that are outlined in the position descriptions below. Position descriptions may change based on shifting programs and/or priorities in Campus Ministry and Loyola University.

Interfaith & Ecumenical Ministry
The Interfaith and Ecumenical Ministry Interns assist in coordinating and facilitating various interfaith and ecumenical christian campus offerings. This ministry seeks to enhance campus cooperation and leadership to promote deeper understanding, respect and celebration of diverse spiritual identities. This position assists with planning and implementing opportunities for exploring and reflecting on the search for meaning and identity, including Ignatian Spirituality and diverse spiritual practices from a variety of traditions.
Ecumenism (Definition): The concept/principle in which Protestant Christians belonging to different Christian denominations work together to cultivate closer relationships to promote Beloved Community.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of diverse faith backgrounds and the broader issues of religious intolerance and social injustice.
- Openness to and curiosity about diverse spiritual practices and traditions.
- Willingness to learn about and work with sensitivity to spiritual and religious diversity.
- Strong relational and group facilitation skills required, as well as an ability to engage students with diverse spiritual identities in various forms of prayer, reflection, small/large group dialogue and interfaith educational opportunities.
- Ability to dialogue with persons with diverse spiritual identities, beliefs and religious perspectives, and openness to working with them to create diverse campus offerings.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and implementation of the Hope and Renewal Interfaith Prayer Service in February.
- Provide support to students from a variety of faith traditions represented on Loyola's campus.
- Support the Assistant Director for Interfaith and Ecumenical Ministry to plan and implement religious celebrations, gatherings and community events for students from diverse faith backgrounds.
- Provide support and encourage Christian ecumenical activities through programming, events and worship services that encourage dialogue and collaboration for students, faculty, staff and administrators in the Loyola Community.
- Provide administrative and ministerial support for Ecumenical Christian programs and events.
- Work with Chosen Generation Gospel Choir student club.

Social Justice & Advocacy
This intern will work together with the Assistant Director for Social Justice and the Social Justice & Advocacy Intern to plan and implement opportunities to engage the Loyola community through education, prayer, reflection and action. This position seeks to deepen the connections between faith and justice, which are understood more fully through community engagement, relationship building, and experiential learning within our local, national and global communities. This role involves regular engagement with a variety of social justice topics, including antiracism/racial justice, environmental justice, immigration justice, economic justice, voting rights, and more. Applicants do not need to be “experts” in social justice, but must have passion for the intersections of faith and justice work and openness to continuous growth and learning.
Responsibilities
- Assist in recruitment, planning, and advocacy preparation for the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice
- Assist in recruitment, planning, and logistical preparation for the Kino Border Initiative (KBI) immersion program and UndocuWeek program
- Coordinate justice and education-action programs such as the El Salvadoran Martyr Mass, Faith & Justice lectures, and follow-up Teach-in & Immersion initiatives
- Provide administrative support for Women’s Retreat in the Spring semester
- Lead efforts for education, advocacy, and coordinated response on current legislative issues
- Collaborate with student clubs and groups, including ALANA, CCSJ/YRI, the Office of Campus Sustainability, and others to support relationships and coordinate joint justice education and action efforts
- Support networking and collaboration with other Jesuit institutions, community partners and social action organizations
- Develop creative and engaging messaging through campus campaigns, videos and social media to promote social justice education, action, and reflection throughout the semester.
- Work together as a team with the Sustainability Intern to accomplish some of the responsibilities above.

Sustainability Intern
This intern will work together with the Assistant Director for Social Justice and the Social Justice & Advocacy Intern to plan and implement opportunities to engage the Loyola community through education, prayer, reflection, and action. - Provide administrative support for retreats run by the Assistant Director for Social Justice in the Spring semester
- Coordinate justice and education-action programs such follow-up Teach-in & Immersion initiatives
- Support our campus-wide commitment to being a Laudato Si University through committed ongoing partnership with multiple Loyola departments
- Assist in recruitment, planning, and preparation for various sustainability-focused programs, including facilitating advocacy initiatives put out by the Ignatian Solidarity Network and other partner organizations
- Lead efforts for education, advocacy, and coordinated response on current legislative issues

Marketing & Communication Team
The Marketing and Communication Team works together to promote the mission of the office of Campus Ministry, tell our stories and invite others into our ministries and community. There are three positions within the team which involve distinct skills and responsibilities in the following areas: graphic design, social media, website management and project management. Although they are divided into 3 positions, we may consider different division of responsibilities depending on the skills of the candidates.
Social Media/Website Management
Qualifications

Responsibilities
- Oversees design and content for social media (Facebook Timeline cover, profiles picture, Twitter profile, banners for website).
- Manages all daily social media activities, including posting on Facebook and Twitter; fostering follower engagement through conversation replies; and monitoring related activity to ensure compliance with relevant CM values.
- Recommends and implements strategies for recruiting new followers and members; fostering loyalty across all social media properties; and optimizing communication strategies.
- Works closely with other CM professional staff and student interns to ensure social media activities are integrated into overall publicity strategies.
- Monitors and provides updates to supervisor about social media successes, lessons learned and recommendations for strategies and formats.
- Responsible for content modifications, additions, deletions and creations of Campus Ministry webpages within the Sitecore management systems.
- Sets up new site pages/sections and landing pages within the web content management system.
- Collaborates with the Office of Technology Services and MarComm to update and maintain online forms and content on the Campus Ministry webpage in a timely and up to date fashion.
- Continually monitors the website in a proactive manner to ensure information is accurate, current and free of errors.
- Performs image manipulation tasks such as creating thumbnails, image resize, file formatting and simple image edits.
- Manages work requests through team project management software in a timely manner.
- Proactively brings ideas for content, promotions, platforms, etc.
- Event/Web/Social photography, as needed.
Graphic Designer
Qualifications
- Design, layout, and editing experience and/or ability to learn creative design.
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- Portfolio/samples of previous work requested as a component of the application process.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for design, layout, photo-editing, and copy-editing of print and digital media.
- Designs print flyers, posters, postcards and digital signage.
- Solicit and respond to feedback on designs from internal and external stakeholders.
- Updates and optimizes official printed materials such as handbooks, information cards and brochures.
- Manages Campus Ministry Photo Library.
- Manages work requests through team project management software in a timely manner.
- Event/Web/Social photography, as needed.
Project Manager
Qualifications
- Strong organizations skills and planning skills
- Strong written and oral communication and excellent teamwork.
- Experience or interest in project management, marketing, communication, advertising, or writing.
- Basic design, layout, or editing experience and/or ability to learn creative design.

Responsibilities
- Receives project requests and assigns to appropriate team members through team project management software.
- Tracks the complete design, layout, photo-editing, copy-editing, printing and distribution of marketing materials for the team.
- Works with Grad Assistant to prepare project schedules based on office priorities.
- Manages submissions to Printing Services Department, Digital Signage and digital calendars (CM website, Loyola Today and Events Calendar).
- Drafts the Campus Ministry Newsletter based on upcoming initiatives in consultation with the GA and Assistant Director.
- Updates or designs printed materials such as flyers, posters, postcards, brochures and digital signage, as needed.
- Event/Web/Social photography, as needed.

Music Ministry
The Music Ministry Interns work with the Associate Director of Campus Ministry and Campus Ministry team to assist in Music Ministry.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated advanced training and musical skills in vocal and/or instrumental music.
- Superior organizational and time
- management skills.
- Experience with database software(Excel) and desktop publishing software (InDesign).
- Ability to train and direct student music ministers.
- Desire to develop their liturgical and music leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization and administration of all Music Ministry activities.
- Assist in the preparation & execution of Sunday Masses including the production of Sunday Orders of Worship and seasonal program booklets.
- Serve as Music Librarian – responsible for choral folders & all sheet music.
- Serve as accompanist or leader for sectional or instrumental rehearsals (as needed).
- Assist in database management and scheduling of all music ministers.
- Assist in preparation & execution of non-Eucharistic worship/ special events.
- Participate in on-going musical, liturgical & spiritual formation.

Office Assistant
The Office Assistant Interns assist with daily office operations, assisting in a variety of needs for the office. The ministry includes hospitality through communication with the Campus Ministry team; Loyola students, faculty, and staff, the alumni community, and broader Baltimore community.
Qualifications

- Openness to assisting with multiple and varied projects within the office.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills throughout the year.
- Critical thinking skills for improving office organization procedures and hospitality.
- Strong relational and organizational skills required, as well as an ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Responsibilities
- Assist with correspondence both inside and outside the office through email, phone calls, and Outlook.
- Maintain and communicate retreat registrations, payments, and refund information.
- Assist with budget and procurement card statements; organizing, scanning, and prepping monthly statements.
- Assist with submitting Motor Pool requests for retreats and programs, as directed.
- Organizing front desk schedule, meetings, and student timesheet information, as directed.
- Photocopy, scan and file documents as needed. Clean and organize closets and office. Order office supplies and perform general office upkeep daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Provide at least 3 hours per week of regularly scheduled phone/front desk coverage.
- Assist with teaching & training of all interns with front desk duties.
- Update and design bulletin boards and other advertising spaces with relevant information in and around the office as directed by professional staff.
- Research projects as needs arise for the office and/or retreat house.

Faith Programs Support
This position assists the Assistant Director of Faith Formation in programs that support faith sharing, reflection, wedding organization and Catholic faith formation.
Qualifications

- Knowledge of the sacraments of the Catholic Church, especially weddings and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).
Responsibilities
- Assist Assistant Director for Faith Formation with preparation and organization of classes for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) through which adult members and friends of the Loyola University community are baptized into the Catholic Church.
- Provide administrative support in organizing records, wedding information website and communications with couples being married in Alumni Memorial Chapel.
- Assist the Assistant Director of Faith Formation with the Cura Faith Sharing Small Groups, including leader training and support, scheduling
- Fostering community with participants in Cura Faith Sharing groups by planning celebrations and gatherings for participants.

Sacristan
This position assists in the worship life of the University Community and is responsible for the coordination of the following liturgical ministries: Lector, Communion, & Hospitality. This position is also responsible for the physical maintenance of both Alumni and Fava Chapels, as well as providing direct support to members of the Jesuit community who lead worship at Masses and other liturgical celebrations.
Qualifications
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with Excel & Access and other database software.
- Ability to relate well to peers and professional staff/faculty
- Ability to train and direct student liturgical ministers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization and administration of all CM Worship activities.
- Preparation & execution for all practical aspects of Sunday & Daily Masses.
- Maintenance of both Fava & Alumni Chapels
- Assist in the training for all Liturgical Ministers
- Assist in database management and scheduling of liturgical ministers.
